Shall Armada Area Schools, Macomb and St. Clair Counties, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Six Million Six Hundred Thousand Dollars ($6,600,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therfor for the purpose of:


erecting, furnishings and equipping additions to the high school building; remodeling, furishings and refurnishing and equipping and re-equipping school buildings; purchasing school buses; and preparing, developing and improving athletic fields and facilities and high school site?

The following is for informational purposes only:

The estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds in 2018, under current law, is 0 mill ($0 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation).  The maximum number of years the bonds may be outstanding, exclusive of any refunding, is fifteen (15) years.  The estimated simple average annual  millage anticipated to be required to retire this bond debt is 1.13 mills ($1.13 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation).

The school district expects to borow from the State School Bond Qualification and Loan Program to pay debt service on these bonds.  The estimated total principal amount of that borrowing is $2,585,000 and the estimated total interest to be paid thereon is $2,705,747.  The estimated duration of the millage levy associated with that borrowing is 14 years and the estimated computed millage rate for such levy is 7.00 mills.  The estimated computed millage rate may change based on changes in certain circumstances.

The total amount of qualified bonds currently outstanding is $40,150,000.  The total amount of qualified loans currently outstanding is approximately $1,541.

(Pursuant to State law, expenditure of bond proceeds must be audited, and the proceeds cannot be used for repair or maintenance costs, teacher, administrator or employee salaries, or other operating expenses.)

Notice of Public Hearing Armada Township Planning Commission


Notice is hereby given that the Armada Township Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on April 5, 2017 beginning at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as the agenda allows, at the Armada Township Hall, 23121 East Main Street, Armada, MI  48005. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments on text amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.

Text amendments to the Zoning Ordinance include: the addition of definitions and regulations for solar energy installations, new definitions and amended standards for restaurants and banquet halls to provide stronger protections for residential neighbors, amendment of Section 8.02.B Value-Added Farming Operations to clarify site plan requirements, amendments to Section 5.07 Signs and sign related definitions to improve organization and make the ordinance compliant with the Supreme Court's decision in Gilbert vs. Reed, amendment of accessory building standards to permit increased square footage, and a set of smalller text amendments intended to clarify language.

Written comments may be addressed to the Planning Commision at the Township Hall address.  A copy of the propsed ordinance amendments will be available for public view at the Township Hall and on the Township website prior to the public hearing. Oral comments will be taken during the hearing April 5, 2017. (See Planning Commission Agendas)
